No Need To Be Apologetic To Other Races!
The government is not (sic) apologetic nor worried about the perception of other communities following the announcement of multi-billion ringgit measures to give bumiputeras business, training and asset opportunities.
"For me, today is a very lucky day and indeed the most-awaited event. We are not apologetic or worried if the non-bumiputeras or even the international communities see this as something concerning only a certain group," Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin said today.
These race-based economic measures threaten to set back the country's development and encouraging racial division and disharmony, warned N Surendran, an opposition member of parliament.
The total population was 28.3 million of which 91.8 per cent were Malaysian citizens and 8.2 per cent were non-citizens. Malaysian citizens consist of the ethnic groups Bumiputera (67.4%), Chinese (24.6%), Indians (7.3%) and Others (0.7%).
