How Does Berocca Work?
Vitamins and minerals are involved in hundreds of chemical reactions throughout your body, making them essential for good health, physical strength and work performance. However, people with demanding lifestyles are at particular risk of developing a vitamin and mineral deficiency.

But typically, it is difficult to nourish your body properly during stressful periods. Vitamin and mineral levels are likely to be lowered as a result of lifestyle-associated behaviour like skipping meals, choosing unhealthy food and stress-related behaviour like smoking and excessively consuming alcohol and coffee. Outwardly, this leads to irritability and poor concentration, which negatively impacts performance.

This combination of a stressful lifestyle and inadequate nutrient intake from food may result in the so-called ‘vicious circle of stress’.

Micronutrient Deficiencies and Cognitive Performance
The body is only capable of storing limited amounts of water-soluble B vitamins, vitamin C and the mineral micronutrients magnesium and zinc. Upon any reduction of intake, impairment of absorption or increase in requirements, the amount stored begins to fall and the body may start to become deficient. Prolonged inadequate intake of all, or any of the micronutrients in Berocca can have effects on performance.

Safety
With the recommended dosage of one tablet per day, Berocca has a high safety profile. All Berocca ingredients are at levels well below the so-called Upper Safety Levels, which have been officially established for vitamins and minerals by internationally accepted institutions like the US Institute of Medicine or the European Scientific Committee. Compared to most other multivitamins, Berocca offers only water-soluble vitamins, any surplus of which is not retained in the body.
